Jerry Forbes Centre for Community Spirit is a non-profit organization located in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. The Centre was founded in memory of Jerry Forbes, a community leader and volunteer who passed away in 2000.
The Centre’s mission is to promote and celebrate community spirit through various programs. The Centre operates as a hub for 25 individual Non-Profit groups. With a no-rent mandate, they allow these vital organizations to keep costs low, and to put money back into their own initiatives.
One such initiative is Radical Generosity. The concept of Radical Generosity can be applied in various contexts in business, education, or personal relationships. It is a way of living that emphasizes the importance of giving back to others and making a positive impact in the world.
Practicing Radical Generosity can bring many benefits, not only for the recipients of the generosity but also for the giver. It can create a sense of purpose, fulfillment and foster a deeper connection to others.
Radical Generosity is not only about donating money. It also encompasses volunteering, mentoring, sharing skills and knowledge, and other forms of generosity that make a significant impact in the community. This is a concept that the Centre embodies and encourages in the community at large.
The Centre offers a wide range of services including volunteer opportunities, community building programs, and support for local non-profit organizations.
In addition to their programming, the Jerry Forbes Centre for Community Spirit also offers various resources for volunteers and non-profit organizations. Training, networking opportunities, and mentorship programs are all available. There are also meeting spaces, technology, and event spaces available on site.
The Centre works closely with other organizations, government agencies, and businesses to promote volunteerism and community engagement. They often collaborate on projects and initiatives that support their mission and make a positive impact.
