WIN House

The month of October is quickly come to a close, and we are so grateful to all the amazing charities we have had the honour of featuring this year. Of course, we aren’t done with 2023 yet, and we are excited to feature WIN House this month; an amazing organization that provides services and programs to those fleeing dangerous situations. 

About WIN House 

WIN House has been serving Edmonton and area for over five decades, offering women, non-binary individuals, and children a safe place to flee. The care they have for the people they serve can be seen through their passionate professionals, volunteers, and dedicated donors.  

WIN House is committed to continuing to provide safety, support, relief, and resources. Operating three shelters in Edmonton, they can house 60 people between their two emergency shelters and eleven individuals at their second-stage shelter. 

Offering a variety of services to their residents, including onsite nursing, their pet safe keeping program partnership with the SPCA, hot meals, school program, community resources and much more.  WIN House plays a significant role in the Edmonton community. 

WIN House celebrated its 55th Anniversary this past September! This remarkable achievement was celebrated with a disco party to honour the era WIN House was founded. 

One of the most frequently asked questions WIN House hears is “do you accept used clothing donations?” The answer is an exciting one! They share an exciting partnership with Goodwill Industries of Alberta, where individuals bring in their used donations and Goodwill will convert this donation into a Gift Card for the residents staying in their shelters. To support this great cause, all you need to do is state that your donation is for WIN House!  

How can you help? 

WIN House is continually seeking dedicated individuals to join and support their organization. Whether you’re interested in becoming a volunteer, or a donor, they welcome all support! 

There are many volunteer opportunities both within and outside the shelter, allowing you to make a tangible impact. Likewise, there are various avenues for donating, whether through monetary contributions or providing essential items.
