A Picture is Worth a Thousand Words

December 14, 2018 • Contests & Giveaways

With Christmas right around the corner, the team at Digital Link is spreading a little bit of that holiday joy by giving one lucky person a Fujifilm Instax Mini 9! Each camera has something special that it brings to the table, and the Fujifilm Instax Mini 9 is no different.

Fun fact: the term “polaroid” doesn’t mean a camera that has self-developing film. Polaroid actually refers to Polaroid Corporation, the company that patented instant cameras and film. However, Polaroid has become an encompassing term and many people continue to use it when referring to instant cameras.

As someone who owns a variety of cameras, including an Instax Mini 9, I am here to tell you why owning an instant camera is absolutely worth it.

Why an instant camera?

Look, I know what you’re thinking: but what if I don’t look good in the photo? My friend, that’s the best part of an instant camera. On a normal day, I spend over an hour choosing and editing a single photo to post on Instagram. This process can be exhausting and incredibly time-consuming. However, with my Instax camera, I’ve fallen in love with photography all over again. It’s simple and it’s fun to snap a candid photo and immediately have the results. No editing required.

You’re not the only one who’s going to have fun with it. Ever since cell phones became the new norm for taking photographs, people have become fascinated with instant cameras. Bringing one to a social event or party will make you quite popular, as everyone will want to use it. Luckily, instant cameras are made to be pretty durable, so you can pass it around without worrying about it too much.

We chose the Instax Mini 9 to give away because it’s family-friendly and a perfect gift for all ages. While it’s a popular gift for teenagers, the instant camera is suitable for children as young as five years old. With the right guidance, anyone will be able to use it.

Why I love my Fujifilm Instax Mini 9, specifically.

There are a number of reasons why I love owning an Instax Mini 9. The main reason is that instant photographs are incredibly neat. An instant camera provides you with the opportunity to watch the photograph develop and seeing the image appear is fascinating. The second reason as to why I love the Fujifilm Instax Mini 9 is there are so many options, from the colour of the camera to the film styles. Fujifilm has developed a variety of film styles that you can choose from including Canadian film, rainbow film, and monochrome film.

Unlike other instant cameras, the Mini 9 has a selfie mirror that’s incredibly convenient. Smartphones have made taking a selfie a lot easier but being able to take a selfie using an instant camera is certainly cooler. In addition, if you enjoy taking macro shots and want to mimic that with an instant camera, you’re in luck! The Fujifilm Instax Mini 9 camera comes with a close-up lens attachment. This allows you to get a little more creative when it comes to photographing your subject.

The camera also has a brightness adjustment dial with four settings: Very Sunny, Sunny, Cloudy, and Indoors. The Instax Mini 9 will suggest which setting you should pick depending on the ambient light it registers. You’ll be able to tell what its suggested by looking for a flashing red light on the dial, to which you can adjust accordingly.

By using the Instax Mini 9 camera, you’re able to capture the small moments and in return, receive a beautiful keepsake.
