Happy holidays

Give Back This Holiday Season

November 15, 2022 • Charity Spotlight

As December approaches, Christmas lights are making their debut in neighbourhoods, and as the excitement in the air begins to rise, many of us are anticipating the magic of the season. However, for others, the holiday season can be challenging. Today, we would like to highlight four charities that are doing amazing work in our community.

We hope you will consider supporting some of them, in some way.

Christmas Bureau of Edmonton

The Christmas Bureau of Edmonton has been serving Edmonton since 1940. Their mission is to spread the true meaning of Christmas, caring, and sharing. The Christmas Bureau provides meals at Christmas to families, individuals, and seniors. For details on how to support the Christmas Bureau, please click here.

Christmas should be memorable for children (and people!) of all ages. Therefore, the work that Adopt-A-Teen is doing is incredibly important. Their mission is to provide a $50 gift card to teens aged 13-17 years old. While they can be living independently or living with a family, they must be registered with the Christmas Bureau of Edmonton. For details on how to support Adopt-A-Teen, please click here.

Santas Anonymous

630 CHED Santas Anonymous has a very clear vision: “to see every child receive a new toy at Christmas.” Founded in 1955, by Jerry Forbes, that mission continues to be a driving force in providing holiday magic to children in need in Edmonton. Santas Anonymous depends on thousands of donors and volunteers as they deliver toys to over 20, 000 children every year. Every child deserves to feel special on Christmas morning, and the incredible work done by Santas Anonymous helps do just that. Everyone should have a magical holiday season!

Holiday Hamper Program

The Holiday Hamper Program is an integral part of the community during the Christmas season. Every family should have the gift of a delicious meal to enjoy on Christmas Day. Offering help to families in need, participants become Hamper Elves by adopting a family, which includes a healthy, festive meal, and small presents for the children. On delivery day, which takes place at the Edmonton Expo Center, hampers are distributed by a team of amazing volunteers. With the support of the community, the Holiday Hamper Program seeks to provide holiday magic to over 1,000 families. If you are interested in becoming a Hamper Elf, please click here. Stocking Stuffers for Seniors

In many instances, the seniors in our community are often overlooked. But the joy of Christmas has no age limit! Bring some light to a senior with the Stocking Stuffers for Seniors at all London Drugs locations. While loneliness and isolation are common, seniors have been impacted by the pandemic. The goal is to bring holiday cheer to as many seniors as possible. Participating in this fantastic cause is simple: visit your local London Drugs, choose a name from the tree, and start shopping. This is an excellent tradition to do with your children during the holiday season. Make a difference this year, and support Stocking Stuffers for Seniors! For more details, please click here.

The holidays should be magical for everyone, and we are incredibly grateful to have these resources available in our community.
