This month we are excited to feature The Today Centre as our Charity Spotlight. Serving as a first stop, short-term assistance centre for any adult experiencing family violence, The Today Centre is an integral part of our community. Keep reading to find out more about the work they do, and how you can help support their efforts.
About The Today Centre
Through compassion, empathy, and an accepting ear, The Today Centre’s trained Family Violence Specialists can help clients navigate their risks, and increase safety through legal assistance referrals, options for emergency shelters, education around family violence and its impact and more.
These efforts can support an individual’s safety plan and increase their toolkit and knowledge around family violence and existing supports. Through their Public Education Program, they help service providers and community members gain knowledge and skills to better recognize and respond to family violence.
In 2023 and 2024, The Today Centre assisted 1,226 individuals who were either connected to services, referred to resources, or provided further information on family violence. This resulted in 1,563 phone calls, 600 emails sent, and 261 secure online chat conversations. The need for their services is great and continues to expand each year.

How You Can Help
The Today Centre is always looking for partners in supporting the work they do! There are several different ways to get involved:

- Host a gift card drive in support of our “Safe at Last” or “Safety in Motion” programs.
- Host a third-party event in support of The Today Centre.
- Partner with the organization financially in support of their upcoming signature fundraising event.
- Become a monthly donor in support of their Tomorrow Fund.
- Donate new hygiene products to the client self-care area.
- Follow The Today Centre on Facebook, Instagram, or LinkedIn, and reshare important information on family violence.
Together, we can disrupt the stigma surrounding family violence by sharing the word and normalizing the conversations around abuse.
Upcoming Events
Mark your calendars for two exciting, upcoming events.
