December has arrived! As the busy Holiday Season is upon us, it is important to consider spreading love and kindness to those who need it most. The holiday season can be challenging, and many individuals and families are seeking extra support. In this two part blog series, we will highlight six charities that are doing amazing work in our community.
We hope you will consider supporting some of them, if you are able, in some way.
Holiday Hamper Program
The Holiday Hamper Program is an integral part of the community during the Christmas season. Every family should have the gift of a delicious meal to enjoy on Christmas Day, and $30 pays for a turkey for a family in need this holiday season. Offering help to families in need, participants become Hamper Elves by adopting a family, which includes a healthy, festive meal, and small presents for the children. On delivery day, which takes place at the Edmonton Expo Center, hampers are distributed by a team of amazing volunteers. With the support of the community, the Holiday Hamper Program seeks to provide holiday magic to 1,000 families. If you are interested in becoming a Hamper Elf, please click here. Stocking Stuffers for Seniors
In many instances, the seniors in our community are often overlooked. But the joy of Christmas has no age limit! Bring some light to a senior with the Stocking Stuffers for Seniors at all London Drugs locations. While loneliness and isolation are common, seniors have been impacted by the pandemic. The goal is to bring holiday cheer to as many seniors as possible. Participating in this fantastic cause is simple: visit your local London Drugs, choose a name from the tree, and start shopping. This is an excellent tradition to do with your children during the holiday season. Make a difference this year, and support Stocking Stuffers for Seniors! For more details, please click here.
Meals on Wheels
Edmonton Meals on Wheels is a local, non-profit organization that provides home delivered meals and food services to many in Edmonton. While they are known for their amazing customer service and delicious meals, the members who receive daily visits are grateful not only for the food, but for the interaction and visit from the volunteers. While Christmas can mean family and friends, many others are alone and isolated. Would you like to make a difference? Consider participating in the Meals on Wheels Holiday Gift Drive. This is just a sample of the many charities to consider supporting this holiday season. The holidays should be magical for everyone, and we are incredibly grateful to have these resources available in our community. Thank you to all the wonderful, selfless volunteers and the charities that they so vitally support.
