Five Benefits of Giving Back to Your Community

February 26, 2021 • Charity Spotlight

At Digital Link, we are not only committed to helping people with IT, web, and social media needs, we also believe in giving back to our community. One of our most exciting endeavours was hosting a book drive for Little Warriors Be Brave Ranch. We collected thousands of books for the children at the Be Brave Ranch, filing all stass which us with tremendous joy. There are many reasons why we, and many other businesses, are driven to give back to the community.

Today, let’s discuss five ways on how giving helping others — and giving back to your community — can feed your heart, body, and mind.

Elevates your happiness

While this may seem like a no brainer, giving back to others brings joy. We’ve all heard the saying known as “helper’s high,” which is experienced when you do something selfless for someone else. When you give to others, the system responsible for releasing endorphins instantly improves your mood. Do something for your community … and, experience first-hand how wonderful you can feel!

Kindness is contagious

One of the best side effects of giving back to others is that your actions can encourage others to follow in your footsteps. Have some fun and challenge your friends, family, co workers, and/or other businesses to do the same. Often, all it takes is one person to do something impactful to create a ripple effect. These positive actions ultimately benefit all parties involved.

Builds connections

Who doesn’t want to feel more connected to others? Especially in these days! Engaging with like minded organizations and individuals, helps cultivate strong relationships. Building these meaningful connections with others while working together toward a common goal, helping address a specific issue, or improve the lives of others helps give you a sense of pride and purpose.

Fills your cup

Helping others can put your own life and experiences into perspective. Often, when we are given a look into the lives of others, we can clearly see the greatness we have in our own lives. Being able to work with people in different situations can lead to practicing more gratitude in your own life.

Increases your life span

If we haven’t convinced you yet, we think this point will do the trick! Many studies have found that the feelings people get when helping other has a psychological effect, which can benefit

you in the end. Helpers can live longer, and they also report decreased blood pressure, lower depression and stress and increased happiness.
