November 7, 2019 • Product Reviews

Mark your calendarsAs of January 14, 2020, Windows 7 will have reached its endoflife, meaning; Microsoft will no longer be sending updates for the operating system. With millions of people using Windows 7 around the world, this is a huge problem. After it’s endoflife, Windows 7 will continue to work; however, if a flaw is found within the program, Microsoft will no longer provide security updates. What does this mean for you? Simply put, if you are running Windows 7, your computer’s security will be compromised.

Security breaches can happen to anyone. Whether you run a large organization, operate a small business, or use a home computer, it is imperative that you implement the proper procedures.

If your system is breached and has sent an email to everyone on your contact list claiming that you need money for bail, what would you do? If just 1% of people believe the hoax, you could lose the confidence and trust of those impacted. Here’s an even more daunting scenario: what if your business account was hackedA security breach could result in damaging implications to your reputation. Digital Link encourages you to avoid this from happening; keep your information safe by updating your operating system to Windows 10.

Luckily, there is reprieve for some users. If you have Windows 7 Pro, you can upgrade to Windows 10 for free. Unfortunately, if you have Windows 7 Home, you will need to purchase a new licence. We advise everyone updating their operating system to backup their files before starting the process.

If your computer was purchased prior to 2016, with windows 7 installedit may be more cost effective to purchase a new one. The price of the upgrade can be costly. Consider using this as an opportunity to replace your machine as computers sold in 2019 come with Windows 10 preinstalled.

We understand that these types of changes can be overwhelming. At Digital Link, we are committed to keeping you and your information safe. Digital Link is offering a special promotion to upgrade your computer or purchase a new one. If you have any questions, or need assistance, please contact our team for help.
